Stress and anxiety are terms that are often mixed up, probably due to the fact they can cause similar symptoms. Although closely related, they are different in causation with stressful feelings and events often leading to anxiety if left unresolved.
Stress is usually linked to an external stressor which, when resolved, alleviates the stressful feelings. Anxiety, on the other hand, is an internal reaction to prolonged elevated levels of stress, past unresolved experiences or even causes unknown at a conscious level.
We all experience feelings of stress from time to time and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing; sometimes it can be motivating and encourage us to excel in whatever we’re trying to achieve.
Problems arise, however, when stress levels are unmanaged and the symptoms start interfering with your daily life both physically and mentally.
Symptoms of stress and anxiety include:
- racing thoughts
- palpitations
- sweating
- digestive issues
- headaches
- irritability
- disturbed sleep
- muscle tension
- feelings of overwhelm
Symptoms of anxiety can also include feelings of impending doom and brain fog.
Any of these symptoms can feel incredibly disturbing and clients often feel a sense of relief to learn they are a natural result of a chemical reaction in the brain that occurs when a perceived threat is detected. Essentially, they are gearing your body up for fighting or fleeing a situation.
Therefore the first step is learning how to manage these symptoms and move into a state of quiet calm. From there, we will look at clearing any underlying beliefs that are triggering these uncomfortable and distressing feelings and work towards empowering you with the confidence to move forwards positively. As part of this process, we will discuss a suitable treatment plan which could include using therapeutic techniques that are highly effective at reducing the effects of trauma. Hypnotherapy for Stress and Anxiety - £75 per session
Each session lasts up to 90 minutes. You will also receive a hypnosis recording after the first session to help support and strengthen your ability to manage your stress response and to find a calm space in your mind whenever you need.
