Hypnotherapy for OCD

Hypnotherapy for OCD helps bring calm to your mind and body. It gently lets your unconscious mind know that you are moving towards a more empowered and positive place so you can feel safe to confidently live your life on your terms.
OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is often triggered by high and sustained levels of anxiety. It manifests in two ways that can often merge together:
- Persistent and intrusive thoughts which are out of your mental control. These could be in the form of unwanted images, overwhelming worries or the feeling that something bad will happen if something isn’t right (perhaps if things aren’t ordered or clean).
- Persistent and intrusive thoughts that lead to repetitive behavioural traits being carried out such as continual hand washing, checking appliances, locks and switches, and counting or arranging things in a certain order.
OCD can cause considerable distress. The impact of these unwanted and intrusive thoughts and actions are both exhausting and disruptive. People who experience OCD can be left feeling lonely or isolated (it can be hard to share with those around you) and feelings of shame and frustration are common which adds to the already high levels of anxiety.
The initial treatment for OCD is geared towards calming down your mind and body. In my experience, mental rest is essential. It’s also important to look at the underlying belief that has triggered the OCD and gently let your unconscious know that you are moving to a more empowered place in your mind. As strange as it might seem, anxieties are often an unconscious drive to keep us safe. Treatment is about addressing this on both the unconscious and conscious levels so you’re able to confidently live your life on your terms.
